Aerial Drone Filming at Glamis Castle for Australian TV Show

This week we have been filming at Glamis Castle, Scotland’s Most Beautiful Castle & Childhood Home of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Filming

Rising View provided aerial drone photography and video for an Australian production company who were producing a TV show called Better Homes and Gardens.  They were over in Scotland to capture the amazing gardens of Glamis Castle among other locations.

TV Show

We were approached by the production company as they had seen previous footage of Glamis Castle which we had stock footage of from late 2016.  This was when we were doing a property video to showcase Castlegait Developments on the outskirts of the castle estate.

Stock Footage

The Castle

Glamis Castle is situated beside the village of Glamis in Angus, Scotland and is the current home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne.  The castle dates back to the 14th century and was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, wife of King George VI.  Their second daughter, Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, was born there.  The castle has the nickname of “Scotland’s Most Beutiful Castle” for obvious reasons.

The Gardens

The TV show was focusing on the gardens at Glamis Castle.  The are included on the national listing of significant gardens and also the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.  The gardens and grounds are are impressive all year round and open to the public.  The Walled Garden was originally used to produce fruit and vegetables for the castle.  The Italian Garden is stunning and includes pleached alleys of beech, a stone fountain and ornamental gates which commemorate the Queen Mother’s 80th birthday.

Events

Glamis castle is open to the public all year round with guided tours of the castle and gardens or why not visit some of the events year round including the Open Air Cinema, Dogs Day Out, Taste Angus Food and Drink Festival or Crime at the Castle, Scotlands newest and most unique crime festival.
