Although the inspection costs might not be that much different, because a drone can inspect more wind turbines in a day means you’re making a substantial saving if you pay a daily rate for your inspections rather than a per turbine payment. If you are paying per turbine, you may find drone costs are lower due to the fact that less manpower and machinery are required.

Safety

Drone photography does have safety considerations and certain steps have to be taken before a drone is put into the air. For example, drones used for commercial purposes need to be licensed with the Civil Aviation Authorities. However, they are safe when used professionally by a company that is fully licensed and insured. Manual inspection of wind turbines can also pose safety risks, being hit by objects or falling from a height are just two incidents that can occur.
